This time of year always feels like a reset. After a winter of eating a little too well, Stacey and I are back to tracking macros and getting consistent again with workouts.
I’ve been bouncing between the YMCA and CrossFit, which has been a change for me. We used to go to CrossFit Cornelius for years before we moved, so getting back into a routine closer to home has been a good shift.

One thing that’s helped is getting back into a simple routine with food too. I’ve been grabbing meals from Clean Eatz in Mooresville and Birkdale. Quick, easy, and it keeps me from making bad decisions when I’m hungry.
With the weather warming up, it’s a lot easier to stay consistent. You start seeing more people out, parking lots a little fuller, and everyone trying to get back into some kind of rhythm around Lake Norman.
If you’ve been thinking about getting back into it, now’s probably the time.

🤝 A New Helping Hand Joins Cornelius PD

Photo from Instagram: @corneliuspolice
The Gist: The Cornelius Police Department has welcomed its first-ever mental health clinician, Loleita Page, to the team to help handle crisis calls with a softer touch. Page, who holds a master’s degree in social work, was brought on earlier this year through a grant from the Governor’s Crime Commission and a partnership with Santé. She pairs up with officers to provide "real-time" support, responding to scenes once they are secured to help de-escalate situations and connect residents with much-needed resources.
Why It Matters: Having a specialist like Page in-house means quicker response times than waiting for outside mobile teams, ensuring that when a neighbor is at their lowest point, they get a listener just as fast as they get a badge. It’s all about getting folks the right kind of help in those high-stress moments before things take a turn for the worse.
🌱 Summit Coffee Is Building a 62-Acre Farm Village

The Gist: Davidson-based Summit Coffee has announced plans for Summit Farms, a 62-acre mixed-use agricultural community at the corner of Shearer and East Rocky River roads, set to open in spring 2027. The project includes a 10-acre working organic farm, a commercial village with a new Summit Coffee headquarters, the Silly Goose Bakeshop, an ice cream store, a bookstore, an on-site retail market with wood-fired pizza, and a 55-lot custom home neighborhood called The Preserve. Infrastructure construction begins this spring.
Why It Matters: For Davidson, which already punches far above its size in terms of walkable community spaces, Summit Farms adds something the whole lake area doesn't really have yet. CEO Brian Helfrich has been working toward this for six years. It's worth watching closely!

🥘 A Southern landmark with serious pasta cred

131 N Main St, Davidson
Since 2015, Kindred has anchored Davidson’s Main Street with a mix of James Beard-nominated cooking and genuine neighborhood warmth. The menu leans Italian with a Southern accent: think daily handmade gnocchi alongside crispy oysters and their legendary, pull-apart milk bread.
Whether you’re sharing the duck fat potatoes with crab fat mayo or the wagyu tartare, the experience feels elevated but never stuffy. It’s the rare spot that justifies the drive from Charlotte.

🌸 Locally sourced style for those sunny porches

8301 Magnolia Estates Dr, Cornelius
With the Masters wrapping up and the lake warming up, Sweet Magnolia is currently stocked with vibrant Vilagallo blouses and fresh pickleball sets.
Sissy has curated a space in Cornelius that feels deeply personal, filled with soft terry loungewear and citronella candles that look elegant on a dinner table. Between the original local art and the complimentary gift wrapping, it remains a reliable stop for effortless spring transitions.
