Hi neighbors,

Next weekend is stacked.

The ACC Tournament is in Charlotte. The finals are on the 14th.

It’s also the weekend most people will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

And up at Beech Mountain, it’s the last day of ski season.

Three completely different vibes. Same Saturday.

You can be downtown in Charlotte watching ACC basketball.
You can be at The Harp & Crown raising a pint.
Or you can be on the slopes trying to squeeze one more run out of winter.

My family and my brother’s family are heading to Beech Mountain for closing weekend. Something about that last day always feels a little bittersweet. The snow gets softer. Everyone knows it’s the end. But that’s part of what makes it fun.

March always feels like that around here. Winter isn’t fully gone. Spring hasn’t fully arrived. Sports are heating up. Patios are opening. The calendar suddenly fills up.

It’s one of the reasons I like living here. There’s always something happening, and usually more than you can realistically do.

So the only real question is:
Where are you going to be on the 14th?

Charlotte?
The pub?
Or the mountain?

Talk soon,
Scott

King Canary Brewing taprooms feel like well-appointed lakeside homes. Their spaces offer an intentional, breezy atmosphere where the service is as polished as the branding.

Perfect for nursing a crisp Hoots Blonde or a citrusy Stud Puffin out on the patio, where the community vibe is always strong. That local energy takes center stage on Saturday, March 21st, from 3–5 PM for their Dip Cook-Off. It is free to enter, with both Judges' Choice and People’s Choice awards up for grabs.

🩰 Tiny movements that lead to major milestones

After a session at Pure Barre, the morning light at Birkdale is always a bit brighter. The instructors know your name before you even hit the mat for a Define or Align class!

Aiming for your first milestone or signing the 250-club barre? There is a quiet pride in the way neighbors encourage one another through every low-impact tuck and hold.

You can even bring a friend along to a free Engage intro class to share the experience, and maybe even find a new favorite ritual together.

🏗️ Knox Crossing Advances in Huntersville

Photo of proposed Knox Crossing development from WRS Inc. Real Estate Investments

The Gist: The Huntersville Planning Board recently recommended approval for Knox Crossing, a $200 million mixed-use community at the corner of Highway 73 and 115. Plans for the 44-acre site include nearly 500 new homes, a dog park, and a playground. A 45,000 square foot grocery store is expected to anchor the retail space, alongside local shops and a gas station.

Why It Matters: This project aims to create a walkable hub with easy access to future transit and dedicated housing for our local teachers and first responders.

What’s Next: The Huntersville Board of Commissioners will hold a final vote on the rezoning request during their meeting at 6 p.m. on March 17.

🏊 Success in the Water: Swimmers Sweep State Titles

Photo from Lake Norman Charter

The Gist: Lake Norman Charter dominated the 4A state championships on February 12, with both the boys and girls teams repeating as state champions. The girls secured their third consecutive title by 199.5 points, while the boys earned their second in a row by 140 points. Our local athletes showed incredible depth, winning all six relay races and several individual golds in diving and freestyle events.

Why It Matters: These victories highlight the dedication of our local students and the strength of our community sports programs.
