This time of year always seems to stack a few important dates together. Our anniversary was on the 3rd, and with Mother’s Day coming up next week, it’s one of those stretches where you slow down just enough to take stock of things.
Lily and Gunnar have also started looking for their first home, which has been fun to watch as they figure out what they want and where they want to be around the Lake Norman area.

It feels like this time of year is full of those kinds of moments. Families getting together, people making plans, and a lot of “firsts” happening all at once.
With the weather warming up and summer around the corner, everything seems to be moving a little faster. I’m trying to remember to enjoy it while it’s happening.

🍴 A fresh start for our old Town Hall
The Gist: Huntersville leaders approved a $1.44 million deal on April 21 to sell the 30-year-old municipal building at Gilead and Old Statesville roads to Town Hall Partners LLC. The 8,700-square-foot space is set to become a retail and dining hub, with at least 50% of the building dedicated to food and drink. The agreement requires the new owners to include a sit-down restaurant and perform extensive upgrades to the aging property.
Why It Matters: This move is a huge step toward curing the "ghost town vibes" in our downtown after business hours. By turning an old office into a place to grab a meal, the town is working to bring some much-needed life and energy back to the community's center.
🏎️ A racing legend sets up shop at Eleven Lakes
The Gist: Michael Waltrip Brewing Co. is opening its fourth signature bar this month inside the Eleven Lakes Brewing taproom in Cornelius. The partnership brings Michael Waltrip’s personal racing memorabilia and signature beers, like Talladega Light and Bristol Sunshine, to the local craft beer scene. Visitors can enjoy these new brews alongside the original Eleven Lakes lineup and shop for branded merchandise.
Why It Matters: This collaboration turns a favorite local hangout into a destination for NASCAR fans, celebrating the legacy of two-time Daytona 500 winner and Cornelius resident Michael Waltrip. It’s a win for the community that blends local business growth with the neighborhood's deep roots in racing culture.
