Hi neighbors,
I realized after last week’s newsletter that I talked about our two mini donkeys, Chips and Salsa, and didn’t include a picture. That’s been corrected this week.
With the warmer weather sticking around, we’ve been spending more time outside at the farm, and they’ve been loving the extra attention. They’re usually the first to walk over and see what’s going on, especially if they think there’s food involved.

This time of year always feels like everything wakes up at once. The trees are filling in, the evenings are a little longer, and you start seeing more people out and about around Lake Norman again.
If you’ve been cooped up all winter, now’s a good time to get outside and enjoy it.

🐣 Classic comfort with a lakeside soul

1098 Brawley School Rd, Mooresville
Shoals Bar and Grill offers a neighborly atmosphere that makes every visit feel like a local tradition. For Easter, they are known for serving up a seasonal plate of honey-glazed ham alongside their signature, extra-creamy mac & cheese.
Whether you are dropping in for the Thursday night prime rib or sharing a salt-dotted giant pretzel over live music, the energy remains warm and unpretentious. It’s an easy choice for those who appreciate generous portions and a genuine sense of hospitality.

🐝 Watching for turrets and spring blooms

14820 Beatties Ford Rd, Huntersville
The wood line at Blackberry Ridge Farm is soon to buzz with the arrival of the Rose Mallow bees, those gentle, burrowing pollinators that signal the true turn of the season.
Pastel snapdragons and roses are to fill the rows just in time for Easter celebrations, with the air smelling like fresh-cut stems and damp earth. Between preparing bouquets and starting seedlings, there is a quiet, steady pride in keeping these few acres thriving in Huntersville.

🎸 Local Melodies and Main Street Magic Return

The Gist: Downtown Mooresville was full of live music last Saturday, March 21, as eight venues including Stardust Cellars and 158 on Main took part in the first Entertainment District Night of 2026. Next up, the music moves to Davidson, where the 2026 Summer Concert Series kicks off April 4 with a Celtic-themed Tartan Day celebration. Between Symphony on the Green and tribute shows at the Circles, the local spring calendar is filling up fast with live performances.
Why It Matters: Events like these give people a reason to get out, spend time together, and support the local spots that help make this area feel like home. With Mooresville already kicking things off and Davidson up next, there are plenty of chances this spring to grab a lawn chair, enjoy some live music, and be part of the community.
⛵ Set Sail (or Sink!) at the Cardboard Boat Regatta

The Gist: Cornelius Parks and Recreation is bringing back the Cardboard Boat Regatta to Jetton Park on May 2, and it’s already shaping up to be a fun day at the lake. Teams ages 8 and up can build their own boats using cardboard and duct tape, then race to see who makes it across or at least stays afloat. Registration is limited to 25 teams and costs $25 for residents or $35 for non-residents. Along with the race, there’s also the always-entertaining “Titanic Award” for the most dramatic sinking.
Why It Matters: Proceeds benefit Float It Forward, a local nonprofit that provides life jackets at area docks and helps teach boating safety to kids. Whether you’re entering a boat or just showing up to watch the fun, it’s an easy way to support a good cause and enjoy a morning at the park.
