Hi neighbors,
Lake Norman is starting to feel like itself again.
Patios are filling up, restaurants are getting busier, and the lake has that early-season buzz. I drove through Mooresville the other night, and almost every patio had people on it. A few months ago, those same spots were quiet.
It’s funny how the season seems to shift all at once. One week you’re still easing out of winter, and the next, everyone is outside, the weekends are filling up, and summer doesn’t feel so far away.

Ivy making the most of the warmer weather!
Stacey has her first horse show of the season this weekend, which feels like one more sign that we’re officially back in the busy stretch.
So if you’ve been meaning to try a new spot, make weekend plans, or just get out around the lake, now’s a good time. We’re in that sweet spot before summer really takes over.

🏆 Custom Trophies for Hopewell’s Special Olympians

The Gist: Engineering students at Hopewell High saved over 125 old band trophies from the landfill by disassembling and "reverse engineering" them into new awards. A team of 134 students used 3D printing and laser cutting to create 55 custom trophies featuring the school’s signature blue and gold. On April 17, these one-of-a-kind honors were presented to Hopewell Extensions students following their performance in the spring Special Olympics.
Why It Matters: This project turned a simple storage problem into a massive win for inclusion. For many of these athletes, it was the first trophy they’ve ever received, and having the entire school community (from the baseball team to the engineering crew) there to cheer them through a "victory lane" shows exactly what being a Titan is all about.
🚧 Temporary Trail Tweak on the Caldwell Station Greenway

The Gist: A western slice of the Caldwell Station Creek Greenway is officially taking a breather to make room for the Bailey Road Extension construction. The closure stretches from the Bailey Road gravel lot down to the access point by Home Depot, though the path toward NC 115 is still clear for your morning jog. While the full road project won't wrap up until Fall 2027, NCDOT expects to have our trail back open by late 2026.
Why It Matters: With over 13 miles of trails in Cornelius, these paths are the heart of how we get outside and move. It’s a temporary bummer for our local runners and walkers, but the "pro" is that we're getting a much safer setup that will make our greenway loop even better than before.

🍷 Pink sips and patio strolls at Birkdale

16915 Birkdale Commons Pkwy Suite A, Huntersville
Foxcroft Food & Wine brings its Charlotte pedigree to Birkdale Village, offering an approachable escape for those who appreciate a serious cellar. The scratch kitchen shines with charcoal-fired steaks from a rare Josper oven and seasonal house-made pastas.
On May 16, the patio transforms for the Mega Rosé tasting, featuring 40 different labels and a light buffet. It’s an effortless way to stock your home collection while enjoying the village green.

🍓 Spring sweetness at Carrigan Farms

1261 Oakridge Farm Hwy, Mooresville
Carrigan Farms has belonged to the same family since 1902, and that deep-rooted history shows in the atmosphere of their Mooresville fields. Five generations of experience mean the strawberry patch is perfectly primed for a spring visit.
The season runs through late May, with quarts starting at $8. It is a cash only operation, so come prepared. It’s simple: grab a container and find the ripest fruit!
On weekends, the local food truck serves strawberry slushies and fresh pound cake topped with berries and whipped cream. Weekdays are generally quieter, offering a more peaceful pace under the Carolina sun.
