Hi neighbors,

We had dinner at Pomodoro's in Mooresville this week and, like most nights, there was a wait. While we were standing there, I noticed a sign on the wall about supporting local businesses. The message was simple: when you spend money locally, you're helping families, employees, students, and neighbors, not just a company.

It made me think about how much of what makes Lake Norman special comes from local business owners who take a chance on opening a restaurant, shop, or service right here in our community.

This week also seemed full of local connections. We hosted a client and agent appreciation event at our farm, and next week we'll celebrate the graduation of twins who have practically grown up around our family.

As Lake Norman continues to grow, it's a good reminder that the people and businesses that make this area feel like home are worth supporting.

A Flag Day Gathering at Government Center South

The Gist: Iredell County is inviting neighbors to gather for a Flag Day Ceremony on Friday, June 12, at 10 a.m. at Government Center South in Mooresville. The brief morning ceremony will include a reading about the meaning of the American flag and the raising of a Capitol-flown flag, presented by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard. The event is being organized by the Iredell County America 250 Committee and is open to the community.

Why It Matters: It’s a simple but meaningful way for neighbors to come together and reflect on the flag, local history, and the country’s upcoming 250th anniversary. Led by Library Director Juli Moore, the ceremony also marks the start of local efforts to recognize America’s semiquincentennial and Iredell County’s connection to that larger story.

🏌️ Cornelius gets a 24/7 indoor golf paradise

The Gist: Another Nine, a national franchise of self-service indoor golf simulator suites, opened Friday at 20700 N. Main Street in Cornelius. The facility has six private bays equipped with Trackman simulators and access to more than 100 virtual courses, including Quail Hollow, Pinehurst No. 2, and Bethpage Black. Hourly play is $35, with monthly memberships starting at $200.

Why It Matters: For anyone who loves golf but doesn’t always have time to get out on a course, this adds a flexible new option right in town. Bookings are live now, and the suites are open around the clock. Whether you’re trying to practice your swing, play a quick round with friends, or just get a little golf in on your own schedule, this gives local golfers a pretty convenient new place to do it.
