Warm days. Weāve had a few of those lately.
The kind where itās still technically winter, but the sun shows up strong enough to make you roll the windows down on the drive home. Then two days later itās freezing again and youāre wondering if you imagined it.
Stacey, our friend Caitlin, and I were talking recently about how easy it is to live in the next thing.
The next weekend.
The next work push.
The next trip.
The next milestone.
But the truth is, thereās always a ānext.ā It doesnāt stop.
And if weāre not careful, we rush through perfectly good days just to get to another perfectly good day.
Lake Norman has a way of reminding you of that, especially this time of year. A warm afternoon at the barn. A quick walk through Birkdale. A drive with the windows down after the gym because the air finally feels different.
We took Lily out for her birthday recently at Paloma Cocktails & Cuisine in Mooresville, and what stood out wasnāt just the food, it was how everyone slowed down. Lily and her fiancĆ© both said the cocktails were the best theyād ever had, which coming from that generation says something. But more than that, it was three hours at a table where no one was in a hurry.
Thatās part of what LKN Insider is about. Yes, weāll highlight restaurants. Yes, weāll share events. But more than that, itās about giving you a reason to step into something local instead of scrolling past it.

The gates at Lake Norman Miniature Golf are officially ready to open for the changing of seasons. The course landscaping has been refreshed just in time for the March sunshine to hit the water features.
You can even grab a snowball and linger on the swinging benches between holes! Whether you are navigating the unique 18-hole layout or just catching up with neighbors in the fresh air, the weekend hours offer plenty of time to enjoy the climb back into warmer weather.

š Mooresville Launches First Responder Drones
The Gist: The Mooresville Police Department introduced six new drones to reach traffic accidents and emergencies faster than patrol cars. These devices can travel 55 mph within a three mile radius to provide immediate aerial views for dispatchers. To keep things transparent, the town launched a public flight dashboard where you can track flight paths and response data in real time.
Why It Matters: This technology can have help arrive sooner during emergencies while keeping our local roads moving more smoothly. Residents can now view live flight logs and mission details through the Mooresville Flight Dashboard portal.
š¾ A Warm Welcome for Cat About Town

The Gist: A century-old house on Catawba Avenue is being transformed into the first cat cafƩ for the Lake Norman area. The nonprofit Cat About Town Feline Social House & CatfƩ will feature a coffee shop and a separate space where you can mingle with adoptable cats from Cats of Davidson. After searching for years across nearby towns, founders Roni LaBarbera and Amy Doughten secured this Cornelius location to help adult cats and kittens find permanent homes.
Why It Matters: This cozy new spot brings our community together to support animal rescue while offering a unique space to relax with a cup of coffee. Renovations are underway with a goal to open by August 2026.
